As a graduate student at MIT student in 1956, Amar Bose began to research foundational flaws within high-end stereo systems. The interest sprouted from his disappointment with a recent purchase, and evolved into one of the leading manufacturers of audio equipment. Bose founded the Bose Corporation in 1964 with a mission to Better Sound Through Research. Today, Bose audio equipment can be found everywhere from Broadway theaters to military bases. It can be found in the Sistine Chapel, Olympic stadiums and even on the Space Shuttle. Renowned for its commitment to great sound quality, Bose continues to set a high standard for audio equipment. Bose audio equipment is available for the home with their impressive line of amplifiers and speakers, for portable use with their distinct high-end earphones, and can be found in a variety of automobiles. From Mazda to Maserati, and nearly everything in between, Bose automotive sound systems can be found within many luxury cars on the market (and as an optional feature in a number of mid-end vehicles). Bose operates 5 production plants, over 150 stores, and an automotive subsidiary in Stow, Massachusetts. The corporation focuses on audio research and develops products applying their newly developed technologies, some of Bose's trademarked technologies include: Tri-Port Earcup Drivers, Acoustic Noise Cancellation, Psychoacoustic Equalization, and TrueSpace Technology.
